In that “mainland” versus “island” analogy, I was only thinking of being surrounded by people versus times of isolation. I really like the way you linked it to times of harmony versus disharmony or times when we seem to be on a “different track.” I always appreciate the way the Lord adds depth and dimension through His variety in each of us. Thanks, Sara, for being a rock in The Rock!

Hi Susan,
Great thoughts. These two lines really stood out to me:
‘At times I am like the mainland, other times I am an island that He has separated for Himself. It is His choosing; He is the rock on either ground.’ I really love this because it re-emphasizes our dependence on Him alone and helps with the confusion when we seem to be on a different track or not connecting with others very well.It’s all OK!

“If I can remain loved in the midst of unlovely displays, then I will see even those jagged edges, barren landscapes, and momentary lapses come into the full awareness of His love.” Love this too: remaining loved in spite of anything going on or being said around us. Surely this is the rock we stand on!

He just reminded me . . . and I finally came here to read your latest post.
Once again, my spirit leaps at the sound of His Voice.
I’m remembering when He told me what ‘my part’ is . . . “Your part is to be witness of My Glory. . . You get to watch Me work!” Each time I SEE Him is an increase of His twinkling of His Eyes in me, granting me one more beautiful glimpse and peek of His Kingdom within . . . you, me, others. I am always so blessed with the fruit He produces in you Susan . . . Master Gardener that He is. The pen of a ready writer whose ink is the essence of His Spiritual Wisdom. Be with Him as He is with you. . . always.

Hi Susan,
I just found this posting. Thank you for continuing to put these things into such eloquent, clarifying words, calling us back to what really matters. This is all thought provoking but I especially like this paragraph:
“It is also in this moment that religious thought would have me conclude that there is an “I” apart from Christ and that this “I” has two natures – an old nature (old man) and a new nature (new man). Outward signs provide false evidence to confirm the assumption. It is faulty and circumstantial evidence – and it will never support a conviction or a guilty verdict in the eyes of God. According to God, I am innocent – cleansed by His blood, sealed by His Spirit, and joined to Him in Christ.”
I love the way you put it, that all these things WE come up with will never support a guilty verdict in the eyes of God! I am filled with awe all over again as this paints a new viewpoint of the grace of God to me and the completeness of His salvation. Keep writing dear one!

Lee, I love that each person’s small part can make a difference. I write willing to be invisible; if and when it resonates with another then I consider that to be the Holy Spirit’s genius use of all things! Thanks for popping in periodically. When anyone leaves a comment I go back and read the post to find out what they read. As I did this today two lines stood out to me,

“With the vision comes the desire to carve out the space for incubating clearer vision. It is the vision that calls for the boundaries.”

I have been feeling His draw toward re-establishing boundaries (it is so easy to lose the plum line)and now I see why. “Vision” is calling! It needs space to unfold so it can spread its wings. I’ve been feeling a little vague and hazy, yet restless and aware of a need to enter a “new” private space with the Lord. Now I realize there is vision He wants to define. He wants to clarify the reason for the need I am feeling. Vision is calling for a boundary. With it will come the energy and passion to fight for the space and time.

Susan, your articles and the truth they express are wonderful! I haven’t been on your site in awhile but just re-read the one on judgment again and the one above for the first time. Like Jaque, I was really hit by the truth about it not being my weakness that God hates but the pride of the flesh that wants to keep me trying.

Thanks, Jaque. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I know what you mean about no longer being “surprised/discouraged” by the “wannabe” self and all of its religious games. Seeing a finished work of union and completion makes life a true joy. Thanks for looking at the pictures. It was the wrong time of day (noon-ish) so I was fighting with over-exposure…but I managed a few decent ones.
